2019 NFL Strength of Wins/ Pain of Losses thru week 8.

We thought the College strength of wins/pain of losses was so interesting we decided to do one for the NFL and see the results. How it’s devised is if you beat an opponent you get credit for all their wins over their opponents. If you lose you get all their losses.

Strength of Wins

In this first chart below you can see Strength of Wins.  New Orleans still hold the #1 spot. The Saints have wins over Houston (5-3), Seattle (6-2), Dallas (4-3), Tampa Bay (2-5), Jacksonville (4-4), Chicago (3-4) and Arizona (3-4-1) and those teams have a total of 21 wins. My chart this week grades 1 team Washington as having credit with a win but their foes have not won a single game in the NFL.

Pain of Losses

This next chart we will go over is the Pain of Losses. Here if you lose to an opponent you get credit for all their losses. At the bottom of the list you can see there are still 2 teams unbeaten San Francisco (7-0) and New England (8-0).  At the top Miami took over with 23 foe losses. The Dolphins have lost to Baltimore (5-2), New England (8-0), Dallas (4-3), LA Chargers (3-5), Washington (1-7) Buffalo 5-2) and Pittsburgh (3-4).

Overall Wins and Losses

In this last chart below you can see the overall wins and losses. New England and San Francisco are both at the top as they are undefeated. At the bottom you have your win less teams Miami and Cincinnati. Washington as mentioned above has 1 win but does not get credit as it was against a win less Miami team.
