Last 28 years Matchups Updated on Phil Steele Plus!!

I hope you got issue one of my Inside the Pressbox newsletter last week. There was just one Best Bet but I had Iowa St +3 over Kansas St so open the season 1-0 and my computer passed so I have the early lead. There were four FBS vs FBS games and I sided with WKU, Kansas and had Hawaii winning by 3 so a perfect 4-0. This week there are 97 games in this issue of Inside the Pressbox with my forecast and my computers forecast on each game and our yearly battle begins in full this week!

Good news the last 28 years matchups on Phil Steele Plus are all updated! When you go to Phil Steele Plus Team pages just scroll down a little to the 2025 schedule section. Where you see the team’s name it should be in BLUE. Here is a look at the area to go to on the team page.

Ohio St Teams Page 2025 Schedule location

To see the last 28 years just click on the opponent’s team name that you want to see the history. I have an examples for you so you can see what each last 28 years has for you. Here is a sample from Air Force vs Army

The color coding on these is huge. If you look under the score you are on the Army page, so all the GREEN colors are good for Army, and the RED are bad. You can immediately see they have won 6 of the last 8 Straight up in the series. If that column is GREEN, then won the game and RED then they lost. The Line on the game is the same way. You do not have to do the math. If that column is GREEN, then your team in this case ARMY covered the game and if that column is RED then Army did not cover. You can see at a glance that they are 5-1 ATS the last 6 meeting. The stats are color coded green and red and you can see that even though Air Force is one of the nation’s top rush offenses on a yearly basis that Army knows how to defend the option and have only allowed over 200 rush in two of the last 8 meetings!

Now look at the home team category. This category applies to the HOME team and not just to Army. If the word is WIN that means that the HOME team won outright and if it is Loss than the home team lost outright. Now if the word is GREEN then that mean the HOME team covered the spread and if it is RED than the home team lost. You can see at a glance that the Visitor is 6-1-1 the last 8 when a team hosted the game, but the home team has won the last 4 in a row outright.

The Totals Column is easy. If the word is Under that means the game went under the total and if the word is Over the game went over the total. As you can see here the last 11 games in the series have gone Under the total. The reason for this is that the option is a tough offense to prepare for and helps undermanned teams like Army, Navy and Air Force have success vs teams that do not face the option. These teams are all adept at defensing the option and when they play each other the defenses dominate.

If you like a series with a lot of upsets you can see immediately how many upsets there have been in the series, the last 28 years. While there have been just 7 in this series there have been five outright upsets in the last 9 years. If the color is GREEN, then the team whose page you are on pulled the upset and if it is RED than the team was upset. In this case Army has pulled 6 of the 7 outright upsets in the series.

The last 28 years matchups are available for EVERY FBS game this year and are updated right now.
