Vegas Power Ratings Week 13 Nov 26th.

The Playoff Committee ratings are out but here are the real rankings, the Vegas Power Ratings. When I worked for ESPN full time, I put out a weekly article entitled the Vegas Power Ratings. I still have all the sources that I used to produce that article as it featured my plus/minus ratings which closely resemble Vegas’s numbers as well as three different casinos including the fine folks over at the Westgate Las Vegas Sportsbook @SuperBookSports.

This is not the AP poll but gives you an idea of how much teams would be favored over another team if they met on a neutral field. I use these to get an idea of lines on upcoming games. Keep in mind just because a team beat someone last week does not mean they would be favored over them in the Vegas ratings. A couple of examples. Iowa St is 6-2 and beat Oklahoma outright and the Sooners are 6-2. The Sooners are #5 in the Vegas ratings and Iowa St is #13 and Oklahoma would be favored in a rematch. Four weeks I pointed out that Oklahoma St was the only undefeated team in the Big 12 and #6 in the AP poll but was just #16 in the Vegas Poll and the Cowboys undefeated season ended and last week they were crushed by Oklahoma. Ohio State opens #4 in the playoff rankings and many are down on the Buckeyes after they only beat Indiana by 7. They are still #2 in the Vegas Power Ratings. Coastal Carolina is undefeated and has been impressive and deserves to be in the AP Top 25 (#16 this week) but they are just #45 in the Vegas power ratings. Clemson just lost to Notre Dame but if they met again Clemson would be favored so they are ranked higher in the Vegas ratings. Liberty was #21 in the AP ratings and they deserved to be there at #21. NCSt was rated higher in the Vegas Power ratings and were favored over #68 Liberty and beat them last week. BYU is #14 in the CFB rankings but #10 in the Vegas rankings.

Here are this weeks’ 2020 Vegas Power Rankings.
